Singapore Exchange Appoints New Head For Its Risk Management And Regulation Group

Date 15/06/2004

Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Yeo Lian Sim, as its new head of Risk Management and Regulation group with effect from 1 July 2004. Ms Yeo will also serve as a member of SGX's Executive Committee.

"We are very happy to have Ms Yeo join SGX. She comes with more than 25 years of valuable experience from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Temasek Holdings. She will be replacing Mr Alan Shaw in providing direction on our regulatory work and supervision of members, listed companies and market activities," said Mr Hsieh Fu Hua, CEO of SGX.

"We are very appreciative of Mr Alan Shaw who had contributed significantly to the development of our regulatory function including the shift to the disclosure-base regime. He has played an instrumental role in the rewrite of the Exchange's listing and securities trading manuals and in promoting transparency, corporate disclosures and better price discovery for the securities market. Alan has decided to return to Australia in August and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours," added Mr Hsieh Fu Hua.

Ms Yeo is currently seconded from the Monetary Authority of Singapore to Temasek Holdings as Managing Director, Capital Resource Management.

Before joining Temasek, Ms Yeo was Deputy Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. As head of the Market Conduct Group her principal responsibilities were to provide senior management direction over key financial market conduct, consumer and developmental issues, as well as to oversee the regulation of the securities and futures markets and intermediaries. She also chaired the payments and settlements committee at MAS.

"I have enjoyed working at the MAS and gained from my stint at Temasek. The SGX offers the opportunity to extend this experience and contribute to developing a secure and transparent marketplace as well as strong relationships with industry players in the securities market," commented Ms Yeo Lian Sim.

Ms Yeo was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in the National Day Honours in 1994.
