SIFMA Statement On Conservatorship

Tim Ryan, president and CEO of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), today released the following statement after Treasury and FHFA announced their conservatorship of, and actions to support, Fannie and Freddie:

“Secretary Paulson's plan is an important step forward in restoring investor confidence in the financial markets. The strength of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are vitally important to the US housing markets. The actions taken Sunday should have a positive impact in both the mortgage and housing markets.”
