SIFMA today released the following statement from Acting President and CEO Kenneth E. Bentsen, Jr., after the Senate confirmed Jacob Lew’s nomination to become Secretary of the Treasury.
“We congratulate Jack Lew on his confirmation as Treasury Secretary. The Treasury Department is one of the key agencies involved in ensuring our economy and our markets produce growth and attract capital to benefit all Americans, and Jack Lew will be a solid leader of the Department. Mr. Lew will face a number of immediate and important issues as Secretary, not limited to working with Congress on fixing our long-term budget imbalances, and completing the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act. As chair of the FSOC, Mr. Lew has the ability to directly affect the rulemaking process by improving coordination amongst regulators, and ensuring proper cost benefit analysis of all regulations. We look forward to working with Mr. Lew on these and many other issues important to our members and the clients they serve.”
