Shidax Corporation Estimates To Save Over 100M Yen On New In-House Email Delivery System With KVH - KVH Delivers Integrated And Scalable Managed Infrastructure Solution To Help Shidax Corporation Address Growing Mobile Subscription Database And Improve Customer Service

Date 25/06/2013

KVH Co. Ltd., Asia’s leading information delivery platform, has been selected by Shidax Corporation, an innovative lifestyle services provider, to deliver integrated managed infrastructure services to support their migration to a new e-mail delivery system that can handle rapidly growing data volumes and mobile subscriptions.

With a growing database including over six million mobile subscribers to their mobile service, who each regularly receive emails from Shidax, the operations and maintenance of an effective email delivery system by a third party vendor was quickly becoming costly and resource-consuming. Shidax was also facing the challenge of handling operations and maintenance costs that were distributed among multiple sites.

Shidax decided to build a new system in-house that would be able to effectively manage this data, as well as prepare the company accordingly for the consequences of its business success in Japan and overseas, such as increasing data traffic and mobile subscriptions.

KVH was selected as the managed IT infrastructure service provider for Shidax’s email delivery system migration based on its flexibility, fast deployment time and capabilities in supporting overseas business expansion.  Enabling Shidax to focus resources on their core objectives of developing compelling email content for their expanding mobile subscription base, KVH’s integrated solution comprises:

  • Colocation Services at its robust KVH Tokyo Data Center 2 (TDC2) facility
  • Internet Access Services
  • KVH Managed Services, including managed routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, and servers

This solution was customized to be scalable in order to address Shidax’s challenge of continuously growing, though unpredictable, network data traffic.

By adopting KVH’s flexible infrastructure solution that offered integrated managed services to maximize operational efficiency, Shidax estimates it will be able to reduce their data center and systems-related TCO (total cost of ownership) over a one year period by over 100 million yen, in comparison to the previous system operated by a third party vendor.

“KVH has a proven track record not only in Japan but also globally. With their speed and flexibility in response and delivery, they’ve been a highly valuable partner for us,” explained Hiroyuki Mizuno, SITEX Division, Shidax Corporation.  “As we continue to expand our email delivery system, we will rely on KVH for their ongoing support and services in their robust data centers to ensure our in-house system and customer service run smoothly at all times, including times of natural disasters or security breaches.”

“With our broad range of services and international capabilities, KVH was uniquely positioned to deliver a total managed solution to Shidax that addressed their specific IT challenges and business needs,” said Kenji Hioki, Chief Operating Officer of KVH.  “We are looking forward to continuing working together with Shidax to implement additional infrastructure solutions that support their expansion plans and anticipated business growth.”
