Shenzhen Stock Exchange To Adjust SME-Related Index

Date 12/11/2007

In a bid to meet the demand of investors and adapt to the development of the small and medium enterprise board, Shenzhen Stock Exchange decided to improve a series of indices related to the SME board. The SSE SME100 Index (code: 399329) will be adopted as a major index of the SME board, starting from Nov. 19, 2007.

This adjustment aims to highlight the SSE SME100 Index representative of market investment so as to offer more convenience to investors. The index indicates the aggregate market value of more than two thirds of the firms listed on the SME board. And the trial operation of nearly one year has proved its function of an effective market barometer and investment opportunities.

The Shenzhen bourse made such a move by combining international practices with the successful operation of the Shenzhen Component Index. It not only has a far-reaching significance for the optimization of the SME-related indices, but also highlights the characteristics of China??s multi-tier capital market, boosts market vitality and facilitates the innovation of index derivatives.
