Yesterday the Shenzhen Stock Exchange held the first Postdoctoral Forum & Workshop on the Opportunities and Challenges for China’s Capital Market. Chen Dongzheng, director-general of the bourse expressed that this forum mainly focused on such major subjects as the macro economic situation, prospect of the mainland GEM board, and innovation of the capital market, which could offer helpful perspectives for the important and long-term issues facing the country’s capital market.
The forum showcased the results of scientific research achieved since the founding of the postdoctoral laboratory under the bourse and unified all forces to promote idea exchanges, said Song Liping, general manager of the exchange.
Qi Bin, director of the research center with the China Securities Regulatory Commission pointed out it was necessary to take an international approach to securities researches and put the development strategies for the country’s capital market under the backdrop of globalization.
Gao Shanwen, chief economist with Essence Securities made an in-depth analysis of the relationship between the macro economy and the stock markets. From his unique point of view, Gao suggested more attention be paid to economic growth and inflation trend in the future as the capital market and the entity economy are closely related.
Furthermore, the attendees actively offered and exchanged their views on the development and challenges of the widely-expected GEM board, opportunities and challenges for the securities and fund industries, regulation of private equity funds, the voting mechanism for split share structure reforms, the launch of swappable bonds to ease sell-off pressure on the market, U.S. listing of small and midsize enterprises, changes in and oversight of biggest shareholders’ behaviors after full circulation of shares.
