On August 2, the Fintech R&D Center of the Securities and Futures Industry (Shenzhen) (hereinafter referred to as the Fintech Center) established and operated by Shenzhen Stock Exchange (hereinafter referred to as SZSE) held a 2019 mid-term seminar at the Capital Market College. At the seminar, SZSE and Huawei signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the Technology Innovation Laboratory. More than 180 attendees, including the relevant person in charge of the Information Center of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), members of the Technical Management Committee of the SZSE, consultants and experts of the Fintech Center, project representatives and technical directors from securities companies, fund companies and nearly 100 institutions, were present.
The establishment of the Technology Innovation Laboratory (the “Laboratory”) in cooperation with Huawei is another important measure for SZSE to give full play to the role of the Fintech Center as a public platform in the industry and its innovation ability, to jointly promote the implementation of relevant technological innovation schemes in the industry, and to create a more dynamic industry-based technological ecosphere. The Laboratory will give full play to the respective resource advantages of both sides in business, technology and other fields, deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of technology innovation between the two sides. It will also enable both sides to jointly carry out application exploration, verification and testing of innovative technology and core technology in the field of capital market, jointly explore technology solutions that are suitable for the development of industry applications, and further enhance the innovation and application capabilities of key technologies.
During the seminar, a brief report on the recent work of the Fintech Center is given, and the research progress and results report on eight topics covering four research directions, namely, knowledge graph, intelligent service, application of new technologies and safe operation, are listened. Attendees at the seminar held that the participating institutions of various topics had carried out innovative application research on the frontier and key technologies of the fintech industry, actively and firmly promoted the research work of the topics, made smooth progress in the medium term and achieved phased results.
The relevant person in charge of the Information Center of the CSRC gave positive feedback on the work of the Fintech Center and this seminar, congratulated on the establishment of the Laboratory, and stressed the importance of the establishment of the Laboratory for the application of technology innovation in the industry. He said that through the industry platform provided by the Fintech Center, the industry topics covered are more extensive, the key technologies and business services more focused, the application scenarios of the results more diversified, and the research of the topics more sustained and in-depth. In the process of promoting the development of fintech innovation, the industry should pay attention to strengthening industry data governance, investment in new technologies and resources and personnel training, and promote the sharing and application of more and better research results in the industry.
The relevant person in charge of SZSE expressed the gratitude to the various institutions in the industry for their close attention and support for the Fintech Center. SZSE will continue to give full play to its own resource advantages, further deepen cooperation with industry institutions and technology enterprises, and use the Laboratory and other resources and facilities to integrate industry resources to jointly overcome the pain points and difficulties of technological research. The Fintech Center attaches great importance to the building of the fintech ecosphere both inside and outside the industry. It will continue to improve its working mechanism, explore the mode of technical exchange and discussion in the industry, and strive to build an influential, high-level, comprehensive and open platform for fintech innovation in the industry.
In recent years, SZSE has paid close attention to the development trend of new technologies such as big data and AI, vigorously promoted the building of intelligent exchange, and firmly seized the development opportunities brought by fintech innovation. It used scientific and technological means to facilitate front-line supervision, developed intelligent application platform covering various business areas such as company supervision, transaction supervision and risk monitoring, and continuously promoted the deep integration of regulatory experience and intelligent technology. In December 2017, with the approval of CSRC, SZSE formally established the Fintech Center, which is dedicated to serving the industry and focuses on the innovation and development of fintech. The Fintech Center has completed the first batch of research work in 2018. In May 2019, SZSE and Tencent set up a fintech joint laboratory to strengthen strategic cooperation in fintech.
