Standard & Poor’s will make changes in the S&P Latin America 40 Indices effective after the close of trading on Friday July 25, 2008:

• Companhia Vale do Rio Doce SA – ON (Brazil, Sedol: 2857334) shares will be increased by 256,927,000 million to 3,256,725,000 million as a result of a new issue of the same magnitude in the underlying security. The change in the underlying security is due to a global public offering.
• Companhia Vale do Rio Doce SA – PN (Brazil, Sedol: 2933900) shares will be increased by 164,403,000 million to 2,083,919,000 million as a result of a new issue of the same magnitude in the underlying security. The change in the underlying security is due to a global public offering.
