The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has initiated the INVESTORY Investment Learning Design Bootcamp project with the objective to train learning facilitators from 44 schools across the country. The project offers opportunity for secondary school teachers to employ learning models and develop teaching materials to be transferred to students based on Active Learning approach. The project also aims to pave way for resourceful finance and investment curriculum tailored to fit the context of each school.
SET Senior Executive Vice President Soraphol Tulayasathien said that SET has been promoting financial and investment knowledge continuously to youth for over two decades, believing that once the right knowledge and the useful skill has been instilled, any youth will be able to apply in their daily lives, ready to grow up as a well-equipped adult with financial security. In such case, the key persons who play an important role in cultivating and transferring such knowledge are their teachers who are close with them academically. Teachers are person who know and understand well their students, therefore, are able to design financial and investment curriculum that suits their own context.
“The INVESTORY Investment Learning Design Bootcamp project has been created to support and prepare the readiness of the teachers and schools in providing knowledge to secondary school students who, at the best age, are beginning to be interested in investment. SET’s role is to provide knowledge and tools, promote building up learning facilitators to create teaching media, organizing the learning process according to the needs and context of each classroom. In this first year of the project, a total of 54 secondary school teachers from 44 schools in 17 provinces nationwide have participated, as such engaging more than 6,000 students.” added Soraphol.
The project comprises three phases:
- Phase 1: “InvestTEACHER Workshop” is a five-day workshop for teachers to obtain knowledge about investment principles, as well as learning tools and media that are applicable to teaching. The teachers are providing space to practice, reflect their thoughts, and share experiences to strengthen their skills of being a learning mentor.
- Phase 2: “Teaching Lab” is for the teachers to use the teaching process and learning media that they have developed to do the pilot teaching in the real classroom for one semester. SET will provide ongoing advice and support.
- Phase 3: “Show & Share” an event for the teachers to demonstrate activities and teaching processes to be used in the schools. The aim is to disseminate investment learning models, provide the opportunities to exchange and share their experiences with other teachers in the network. This year’s "Show & Share" session was held on October 6, 2023, with nine models of demonstration classrooms for secondary school students. Via this project, SET expects to see increasing financial and investment courses for secondary school students nationwide, particularly an investment classroom that fits for youth as it is creating to suit the context of each school.
