Securities Industry Association: New Brussels Financial Attaché Beneficial To Industry

Date 23/01/2006

Marc Lackritz, President of the Securities Industry Association (SIA), today welcomed the Treasury Department’s establishment of a Financial Attaché in Brussels and congratulated both Barbara Matthews on her appointment to this new post and Maureen Grewe on her appointment as Tokyo Financial Attaché.

“Establishing a Brussels Financial Attaché recognizes the ever-increasing impact EU capital markets and EU capital markets legislation have on both U.S. capital markets and on U.S. financial services firms operating in Europe. This position will provide critical support for the U.S. financial sector in our ongoing regulatory dialogue with the EU,” said Lackritz.

“Matthews brings a demonstrated understanding of the transatlantic capital markets and boundless energy that will serve her well in this important position. Grewe’s long experience and service in Ease Asia will be a terrific asset to American interests in that region,” added Steve Judge, Senior Vice President for Government Affairs. “Both will be terrific advocates for U.S. interests and SIA looks forward to working closely with them.”
