Securities Industry Association Congratulates NASD’s New Chairman, Mary Schapiro

Marc Lackritz, President of the Securities Industry Association (SIA), today expressed congratulations to the NASD and to Mary Schapiro on her election as Chairman and CEO of the NASD. Schapiro previously held the positions of Vice Chairman of the NASD and President of the Regulatory Policy & Oversight Division.

“No one is better qualified to lead the NASD than Mary, given her extensive background at the SEC, CFTC and NASD,” said Lackritz. “We look forward to working with her on the industry’s efforts to devise a regulatory regime that reduces the costs and burdens of regulation without weakening investor protections.”
