Sathit Limpongpan Elected Thai Bourse’s New Chairman

The Stock Exchange of Thailand’s (SET) Board of Governors agreed to elect Sathit Limpongpan the exchange’s 15th chairman, with immediate effect.
 
SET’s secretary of the Board of Governors Sakkarin Ruamrangsri said that Sathit, a member of the Board of Governors appointed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, will succeed Sompol Kiatphaibool, whose term has ended. Sathit’s term will run to September 5, 2015.
 
The exchange also welcomes Suthichai Chitvanich as a new governor. Suthichai was appointed by the Securities and Exchange Commission to replace Subhak Siwaraksa, whose term had ended.
 
Sathit, 63, earned his Ph.D. in Development Administration from National Institute of Development Administration, Master of Economics from Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Barrister-at-Law from Institute of Legal Education of the Thai Bar Association, and Bachelor of Law degree from Thammasat University. He served as Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Finance; Chairman of Office of the Insurance Commission; Vice Chairman of the Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission; Chairman of Government Pension Fund, Director of the Bank of Thailand, and other key capital market posts.
 
Suthichai, 62, holds Master of Law degree from Chulalongkorn University and Master of Management from Sasin Graduate Institute of Business, Chulalongkorn University. He served as SET’s Executive Vice President, Assistant Secretary to the supervision and development of Thai Capital Market Committee, chaired by the Minister of Finance; and member of law-related organizations.
