• British stocks weighed heavily on European equities in August, while sovereign bond yields hit new lows in several countries. 
• In a challenging month for risky assets, the S&P Europe 350® Utilities and Consumer Staples sectors benefited from a demand for more defensive exposures. 
• Switzerland was a bright spot: the region’s equities made the largest positive contribution to the S&P Europe 350, while the S&P Switzerland Sovereign Bond Index gained 4.4%.
