Samuel J. S. Hsu Named President Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation

Mr. Samuel J. S. Hsu was named President of the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TSEC) on August 10, 2006.

Mr. Hsu, 52, was Senior Executive Vice President of the TSEC in 2002, oversaw TSEC operational units such as listing and finance. When the state-owned postal service was transformed into the for-profit Chunghwa Post Co. Ltd. in 2003, Mr. Hsu stood out among quite a few competitive candidates, and was appointed by the relevant authority to chair the board of the postal giant, which also manages a savings deposit totaling more than US$93.7 billion (NT$3 trillion). Under his chairmanship, Samuel was noted for his innovative drive during the three-year tenure there.

As a veteran business executive, Samuel has held professional portfolio in top positions, both in the private and the public sectors. His earlier career includes CEO of leading local securities firms, Securities & Futures Institute, and Securities Investors Protection Corporation, respectively. Previously, he has also served as chief of underwriting section in the Securities and Futures Commission of the Ministry of Finance. Mr. Hsu graduated from Chinese Culture University in the 80’s with an MBA degree. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Securities Investment Analyst.
