Over the week of March 16 – March 20, 2009, the RTS Index went up by 6.80% to reach 696.93 points (652.53 points as of March 13, 2009). Most of the positive impact on the Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) (plus 19.85 points), ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKN) (plus 6.46 points) and OJSC "Polyus Gold" ordinary shares (PLZL) (plus 4.60 points).
The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 went up by 6.29% to reach 481.00 points (452.52 points as of March 13, 2009). Last week almost all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian Stock Market showed a positive trend. The largest growth was demonstrated by the metals & mining sector, with the corresponding index increasing by 13.99%. Significant growth was registered in the financials sector, with the corresponding index gaining 11.22%. The slightest growth was shown by the industrials sector. The RTSI – Industrial went up by 1.01%.

The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 37.46%, 12.65% and 10.02% respectively.
The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of PIK Group (PIKK) – by 97.27% to $1.071 followed by Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) – by 38.0% to $0.69 and ordinary shares of RBC Information Systems (RBCI) – by 33.33% to $0.32.
The week's top losers were privileged shares of PJSC Belon (BLNG) that fell in price by 7.58% to reach $0.1525 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "Pharmstandard" (PHST) that lost 2.65% to close at $16.55 and ordinary shares of Surgutneftegas (SNGS) that went down by 0.7% to $0.71
