Over the week of February 24 – February 27, 2009, the RTS Index went up by 5.29% to reach 544.58 points (517.22 points as of February 20, 2009). Most of the positive impact on the Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for Surgutneftegas ordinary shares (SNGS) (plus 7.09 points), ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSN) (plus 5.98 points) and OAO "LUKOIL" ordinary shares of (LKOH) (plus 5.74 points).
The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 went up by 0.96% to reach 440.86 points (436.66 points as of February 20, 2009). Last week almost all the economy sectors represented on the Russian Stock Market closed in the green territory. The major positive contributor was the power industry sector, the corresponding index increased by 7.75%. Significant growth was registered in the oil & gas sector, with the corresponding index gaining 7.21%. The largest decline was reported by the financials sector. The RTSI – Financials decreased by 0.17%.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of "FGC UES", JSC (FEES) – by 30.51% to $0.00385 followed by ordinary shares of "TSUM TH" (TZUM) – by 26.67% to $0.95 and ordinary shares of Mechel ОАО (MTLR) – by 16.67% to $4.2.
The week's top losers were ordinary shares of Synergy, Co. (SYNG) that fell in price by 26.67% to reach $2.75 followed by ordinary shares of PIK Group (PIKK) that lost 14.29% to close at $0.555 and ordinary shares of "VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation" (VSMO) that posted 10.0% loss at $18.0.
