Over the week of December 1st – December 5th, 2008, the RTS Index went down by 10,39% to reach 589,79 points (658,14 points as of November 28th, 2008). Most of the negative impact on the Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) (minus 12,91 points), ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) (minus 9,99 points) and Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) (minus 9,95 points).
The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 shed 2,64% to reach 539,74 points (554,35 points as of November 28th, 2008). Last week almost all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian Stock Market closed in the negative territory. The major loser was the oil & gas sector, the corresponding index shrank by 12,65%. Significant decline was registered in the consumer & retail sector with the corresponding index losing 9,34%. The industrials performed better than the other sectors. The RTSI – Industrials remained unchanged.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of JSC "RAO Energy System of East" (VRAO) – by 88,46% to $0,00245, ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-4" (OGKD) – by 49,57% to $0,0175 and ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) – by 28,15% to $1,73.
The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC LSR Group (LSRG), that fell in price by 25,00% to reach $3,75, ordinary shares of JSC "FGC UES" (FEES) that closed 16,95% down at $0,049 per share and Surgutneftegas ordinary shares (SNGS) that posted 16,03% loss at $0,55.
