Rosenblatt Securities is pleased to announce that it has hired Justin Schack to the newly created position of Vice President, Market Structure Analysis.
Justin joins Rosenblatt from Institutional Investor magazine, where he was most recently an Assistant Managing Editor and wrote more than 20 cover stories since joining the staff in 1999. Previously, Justin worked for II’s newsletter group as managing editor of Wall Street Letter and Corporate Financing Week. His work as been recognized with awards from the National Press Club, the Society of Professional Journalists and the American Society of Business Publication Editors, among others.
Schack will report to Joe Gawronski, President and COO of Rosenblatt Securities. “We have admired Justin’s work for many years, not just because it is well-written and informative, but because it is that rare reporting that can truly be said to qualify as analysis, demonstrating a true understanding of its subject matter,” stated Gawronski. “With more than ten years covering financial services, most of which has focused squarely on the trading and exchange space, he is uniquely positioned to have an immediate impact on our extensive market structure analysis efforts, which have been a key distinguishing factor for our firm. Justin’s addition to our team will help satisfy the ever increasing demand from our clients for practitioner-driven analysis and advice,” added Gawronski. “The equities, options and futures markets are only getting more complex, new venues are seemingly launched every day, and regulatory issues continue to have a great impact on the trading landscape as well as the stocks in the space. While Dick Rosenblatt, others at the firm and I devote a substantial portion of our time to writing our monthly publication Trading Talk, answering client inquiries about market structure and proactively advising clients about tactical adjustments to their trading strategies, we have other responsibilities at the firm, too. The focus that Justin brings will be invaluable, in addition to his experience, his relationships with key industry figures and his acumen in understanding the space, which I rate as second to none among his peers.”
Justin Schack commented, “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing the senior leadership at Rosenblatt for several years. I’m impressed with how they’ve diversified and grown the firm during that time, and I admire the integrity with which the organization conducts business. Rosenblatt has established itself as an authoritative voice for institutional investors and traders who are trying to better understand the dynamic, complex market structure and trading arena, and I’m excited to help further those efforts.”
Dick Rosenblatt, founder and CEO of Rosenblatt and an Executive Governor of the NYSE, stated, “Adding a full-time resource to our market structure efforts is very exciting to me personally. When Joe suggested we start writing about market structure and make it into an actual product of the firm five years ago, I was skeptical, not because I didn’t love the topic—after all I had been a student of market structure since the ‘70s—but because I did not expect that others would embrace the value as they subsequently have. Between the growing complexity and fragmentation of the markets and the demutualization process in the exchange space that created market cap in the group for the first time, demand for commentary and analysis of the space by both traders and investors has been nearly been insatiable and we haven’t been able to find enough time to try to satisfy our clients needs in this area. Pieces on the evolution of the market structure in the derivatives space, the rapidly changing equities market structure and fragmentation in Europe, and transaction cost analysis relating to non-displayed liquidity pools are already on the agenda for the next quarter, in addition to the work on custom, value-added projects for our clients that always arise and the global exchange CEO conference we are planning for the fall. Needless to say, we are excited to have another set of hands on board to help with all of this, particularly someone of Justin’s caliber and integrity.”
