Approximately 300 eager retail investors benefitted from Bursa Malaysia’s Market Chat 2010/11 roadshow on Saturday, 19 March 2011. Jointly organised by Bursa Malaysia and CIMB Investment Bank, and held at the Securities Commission in Kuala Lumpur, the roadshow offered participants valuable information on the attractive investment opportunities available in the capital market. Participants attending the roadshow had the opportunity to hear expert views from CIMB Investment Bank analysts on the market outlook for the second quarter of 2011.

Uday Jayaram, Global Head of Securities Markets of Bursa Malaysia said, “Bursa Malaysia is committed towards increasing participation and generating more interest from the retail investor segment as this is a very important segment for the growth of the capital market. Through our Market Chat programme, we have, for the last six months, travelled to many parts of Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak, with the sole aim of bringing investment knowledge closer to the homes of potential investors.”

“The Exchange sees itself as a catalyst in creating a pool of informed investors who are well-equipped not only with the latest investment knowledge and market trends but also with the ability to leverage on a variety of trading tools and product offerings. This will assist them to make adequately informed investment decisions.”

“CIMB Investment Bank is happy to yet again be part of Bursa Malaysia’s Market Chat,” said Dato’ Charon Wardini Mokhzani, Executive Director, CIMB Investment Bank Bhd. “We believe that helping retail investors understand what the stock market is and what the prospects are for the year encourages their growth as savvy investors and helps them make better investment decisions,” he added.

Market Chat 2010/11, which is now in its fourth season, is part of a retail investment programme by Bursa Malaysia aimed primarily to encourage greater retail participation in the capital market. The fourth edition of this annual investment roadshow is organised in partnership with eight brokers and investment banks.
