Record Trading Volumes For ASX

The primary driver of ASX's revenues is market activity levels, in particular the number of equity trades which take place. A record number of equities trades was recorded for the month of November - for the first time over a million equities trades occurred in one month. Additionally, the number of equities trades on 29 and 30 November 1999 set new records of 67,501 and 75,241 trades respectively (the previous record was on 29 October 1997 at 63,048 trades). As has been previously noted, market activity levels are inherently unpredictable and there is no certainty that these volumes will continue.
