PLUS Markets has made dramatic inroads into London share trading business during the first few weeks of January 2008 and is now attracting substantial market share.
Amidst worldwide volatility, yesterday (Monday 21st Jan) was a record day for PLUS, with just short of 30,000 trades executed (exact number: 28,374) - TEN TIMES the average number of daily trades that used to take place on PLUS prior to the introduction of its new trading platform in November '07.
Yesterday, it also commanded almost half of the total number of on-exchange bargains transacted in Northern Rock - see excel attachment. Its market share in other heavily-traded stocks - Barclays, RBS, Woolworths, M&S etc - is also growing strongly, as was first revealed a few weeks ago in its December trading activity (contact Rostron Parry for a copy if you missed it).
The data below shows its rising retail market share, with PLUS now approaching the 50% threshold for all retail trades taking place in the UK on a daily basis.
