PEGAS Trading Results October 2015 - PEGAS Volumes Exceed 100 TWh For The First Time

PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, announced that a total volume of 108.8 TWh was traded in October 2015 which represents a new monthly record (previous record: 91.9 TWh in March 2015). This corresponds to a 67 % increase compared to last year (October 2014: 65.1 TWh).

Spot Markets

Overall spot trading volumes in October totalled 40.7 TWh, which is a growth of 13 % compared to October 2014. The German GASPOOL and NCG areas registered a volume of 17.0 TWh in October, including 5.3 TWh traded in quality-specific gas products. The Dutch TTF recorded a strong monthly volume of 11.3 TWh, up 48 % compared to the previous year. The volume in the French PEG Nord and TRS market areas totalled 11.8 TWh, including a new monthly record on PEG Nord with 8,388,035 MWh (previous record: 7,914,890 MWh in January 2015). The Belgian ZTP area registered a record month with 592,999 MWh (previous record: 561,458 MWh in September 2015). The total volume of spread transactions reached 2.6 TWh in October.

Derivatives Markets

The PEGAS derivatives markets registered a new monthly volume record of 68.1 TWh which represents more than twice the volume traded in October 2014 (previous record: 50.7 TWh in March 2015). The Dutch TTF futures market contributed 51.3 TWh to the derivatives volume in October, registering the highest volume traded on PEGAS TTF Futures so far (previous record: 33.7 TWh in March 2015). The volume traded in the German GASPOOL and NCG market areas amounted to 11.7 TWh. Trading volumes in the French PEG Nord and TRS market areas reached 3.9 TWh. The PSV physical and financial contracts totalled 1.2 TWh. The volume registered for clearing via trade registration amounted to 3.7 TWh whilethe total volume of spread transactions reached 4.3 TWh in October.
