PEGAS Trading Results In May - Trading Volumes On The Spot And Derivatives Markets Increased Significantly Compared To The Previous Year

PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, announced that a total volume of 45.7 TWh was traded in May 2015. This represents an increase of 28 percent compared to 35.7 TWh traded in the previous year. 

Spot Markets
Overall trading volumes on the Spot Markets increased by 39 percent to 30.4 TWh in May compared to 21.8 TWh in May 2014. On the German GASPOOL and NCG Spot market areas, volumes reached 14.3 TWh which represents an increase of 44 percent (May 2014: 9.9 TWh). The total volume on the German spot market includes a volume of 5.4 TWh traded in quality-specific gas products. The French PEG Nord and TRS spot market areas reported a volume of 7.0 TWh which accounts for an increase of 6 percent (May 2014: 6.6 TWh). The volume on the Dutch TTF spot market increased by 69 percent to 9.0 TWh (May 2014: 5.3 TWh). The Belgian ZTP spot market registered a volume of 161,539 MWh. The total volume of spread transactions amounted to 1.4 TWh.

Derivatives Markets 
In May, trading volumes on the PEGAS Derivatives Markets reached 15.3 TWh which represents an increase of 10 percent compared to May 2014 (13,9 TWh). The German GASPOOL and NCG Futures market areas registered a volume of 2.8 TWh (May 2014: 6.2 TWh). The French PEG Nord and TRS market areas reported a volume of 1.7 TWh which represents an increase of 32 percent (May 2014: 1.3 TWh). The Dutch TTF Futures market registered a volume of 10.6 TWh and, therefore, increased by 65 percent compared to May 2014 (6.4 TWh). The financial futures product for the Italian PSV market area reported a total volume of 115,680 MWh. Transactions registered for clearing via Trade Registration amounted to 913,440 MWh including 891,360 MWh registered through the new Straight-Through Processing service.
