Palestine Securities Exchange First Quarter Statistics

The Palestine Securities Exchange is pleased to announce that: The trading value for the first quarter of the year 2000 reached (76) Million US$ an increase of 522% for the same period in 1999, and the number of shares traded reached 40 million shares, an increase of 943% for the same period in 1999. The number of transactions reached 7,054 an increase in 488% for the same period in 1999. Also market capitalization increased by a 61% to reach 1 billion $US.

The Alquds index closed at 282.56 for the quarter, an increase of 45.80 points or 19.34% from the end of 1999. The PSE still remains the NO. 1 performer among all the other Arab Stock markets for the first quarter 1999.
