Opening Up Of Middle East Markets At Mondo Visione Exchange Forum 2015 - CEOs Of Tehran Stock Exchange, Borsa Istanbul Derivatives Market, Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange And Iran Fara Bourse On Panel

Date 23/10/2015

For the first time, chief executives of leading Middle East exchanges are coming together to discuss foreign investment opportunities, at the Mondo Visione Exchange Forum 2015.

Tuncay Dinç, Chief Executive Officer, Borsa İstanbul will also address the key exchanges and trading conference, about developments in Turkish markets and the preparations for a successful public listing of Borsa Istanbul in 2016. The Mondo Visione Exchange Forum is taking place on Thursday 12 November at the Barber Surgeon's Hall in London.

Herbie Skeete, Managing Director of Mondo Visione said investment opportunity for global investors in the Middle East is growing as its capital markets start to open their doors to foreign investment.

“The Middle East focused panel reflects the growing interest in doing business in the area with some seeing capital markets through Turkey, Tehran and Iran as the next big opportunity for global investors.”

“We’ve seen significant interest in the Middle East so it was fitting to focus on this region. We have four CEOs from these exchanges to discuss industry analysis on investment possibilities for investors, banking institutions, auditors and technology suppliers. The potential is there and spectacular returns are possible.”

“With Saudi Arabia opening up its market to foreign investors and UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain looking to better regulate and attract investment into their exchanges, Iranian capital markets could face tough competition to attract foreign investors when sanctions are lifted under the landmark nuclear deal agreed in July,” said Skeete.

"Opening up of Middle East Markets" panel participants include Hassan Ghalibaf Asl, Chief Executive Officer, Tehran Stock Exchange; Gaurang Desai, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX); Muammer Çakır, Head of Borsa İstanbul Derivatives Market (VOIP); and Amir Hamooni, Chief Executive Officer, Iran Fara Bourse.

Skeete said Borsa Istanbul is at the heart of Turkey’s ambition to become a financial centre for the wider region with their planned IPO, currently scheduled for 2016 and partnerships such as the recent deal with the London Stock Exchange.

“The LSE partnership saw the launch of trading in Turkish equity index derivatives products on the London Stock Exchange Derivatives Market, following a partnership agreement signed between LSEG and Borsa İstanbul earlier this year. Borsa Istanbul has also signed an MoU with DMCC, which will enhance bilateral trade between Dubai and Istanbul, by providing efficient and enhanced member services for Borsa Istanbul, DMCC Tradeflow and DGCX market participants. Turkey sits at the centre of a crossroads, geographically, bridging Europe and Asia.”

For the past nine years the Mondo Visione Exchange Forum has been bringing together senior executives of trading venues, their customers, suppliers and regulators, to learn about and exchange views on current issues. Participants value it as a venue where key topical matters can be addressed, and for its unrivalled networking opportunities.
