In May, the total volume of futures and options cleared through the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) surged by 25.2% year-over-year, reaching 1.47 billion contracts.
OCC reported significant growth across several categories. Equity options contracts saw a 25.5% year-over-year increase, totalling 803.1 million for the month. Index options contracts experienced an even sharper rise of 32.8% to 122.6 million.
Furthermore, ETF options volumes climbed by 23.3% to 540.5 million contracts, while cleared futures contracts were up 19.4% year-over-year, reaching 4.15 million.
