NZX: Resignation Of Officer – Aaron Jenkins

Date 22/05/2017

NZX advises that Aaron Jenkins has resigned as Head of Funds Management. Currently based in Auckland, Aaron has resigned so he and his family can return home to Sydney, Australia.

Aaron joined NZX as Head of Markets in January 2014, which included overseeing NZX’s Smartshares exchange traded funds (ETFs) business. Following his success in that role, he was appointed Head of Funds Management after NZX’s acquisition of superannuation and KiwiSaver provider SuperLife.

Aaron oversaw the integration of the SuperLife and Smartshares businesses and the complex Financial Markets Conduct Act transition for the combined funds business. He led the expansion of Smartshares portfolio of ETFs from five to 23 funds, and under his leadership, NZX funds under management has grown from $330 million at the start of 2014 to more than $2.3 billion today.

NZX CEO Mark Peterson commented: “Aaron has been a key member of the NZX executive team and I would like to personally thank him for the enormous contribution he has made to our Markets and Funds Management businesses.”

“Aaron has decided it is the right time to relocate his young family back to Australia. Aaron will continue in his role until we recruit a replacement, and on behalf of the team at NZX, we wish Aaron, Tara and their daughters all the very best for the move.”

NZX has commenced an executive search to replace Mr Jenkins and will provide a further update to the market in due course.
