NZX Operating Metrics – Q3 2007

Highlights

• Total number of trades up 12% at 161,039.
• Average daily trades up 12% at 2,478
• Average daily value traded up 4% at $142 million
• Total capital raised at $3.054 billion for 2007 - $404 million capital raised in Q3.
• Number of NZX real-time data terminals up 12% with 9,965 worldwide
• Trading of instalment warrants gaining momentum – trades up 107% in Q3 with 3,674 trades and $28 million traded.

Trading

• Total number of trades was 161,039, a 12% increase on the same period last year.
• Average number of daily trades was 2,478 for Q3 2007, compared with 2,442 for the same period in 2006.
• Total number of trades less than $50,000 was 138,767, a 12% increase.
• Total value traded in Q3 2007 was $9.2 billion, a 3% increase on the same period last year.
• Average daily value traded was $142 million, a 4% increase on the same period last year.
• Total number of trades for the NZSX was 151,509 for Q3 2007, a 14% increase on the same period last year. Total value traded on the NZSX was $8.86 billion for Q3 2007, a 5% increase on the same period last year.
• Total number of trades for the NZAX was 1,302 for Q3 2007.Total value traded on the NZAX was $11 million.
• Total number of trades for the NZDX was 8,228 for Q3 2007. Total value traded on the NZDX was $336 million.

Capital Raised

• New equity raised in Q3 2007 was $329 million and new debt raised was $76 million. Total capital raised in Q3 2007 was $404 million. Total capital raised on the NZX Markets year to date is $3.054 billion as at end of Q3.

Other

• Number of NZX Market Data terminals has increased 12% to 9,965, compared with 8,882 in Q3 last year.
• The total number of instalment warrants trades in Q3 was 3,674, a 107% increase on the same period last year. Total value traded for instalment warrants for Q3 2007 was $28 million.
• Smartshares funds under management (FUM) is $591 million across its five ETFs, a 28% increase on the same period last year. Smartshares has a total of 15,372 unitholders.
