NZX Listing Of New Global Smartshares ETFs

Date 29/07/2015

Smartshares, NZX’s Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) business, is pleased to announce the listing this morning of nine new ETFs, bringing to 19 the portfolio of ETFs now offered by Smartshares.

The new ETFs provide investors with an opportunity to invest in a broad range of international securities through one simple NZ$ purchase. The Smartshares website (www.smartshares.co.nz) has been updated with information about each of the new ETFs, including an updated Investment Statement – links to each of the new fund webpages are below.

Smartshares is a wholly owned subsidiary of NZX and is the pioneer of ETFs in New Zealand, having launched the first ETF here in 1996.

Smartshares ETFs are listed funds that aim to provide a return to unitholders that closely match the return on a specific equity market index or predefined group of shares. Each of the nine new ETFs will invest in a different underlying fund currently offered by the Vanguard Group, Inc, which seeks to track a benchmark index.

NZX Head of Funds Management Aaron Jenkins commented: “For the first time in New Zealand, these new ETFs offer New Zealand investors a simple way to gain exposure to a broad range of international markets on NZX using New Zealand dollars.”

“The listings today are another key milestone in the expansion of Smartshares’ portfolio of ETFs and another signal that we are on track to deliver a broad ETF product offering to the market.”
