NYSE Welcomes Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan Of Turkey

The New York Stock Exchange today welcomed the Prime Minister of Turkey, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to open its market and meet with NYSE Euronext CEO John A. Thain.

“We are honored to open our doors to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and his delegation,” said NYSE Euronext CEO John A. Thain. “We look forward to furthering our long-standing partnership with Turkey and the prospect of listing additional companies from the region on our markets in the U.S. and Europe.”

“I’m pleased to be ringing The Opening Bell of the New York Stock Exchange,” said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “Turkey, with the speed of its economic development, is one of the emerging countries of the world. I believe our common efforts will contribute to enhancing welfare globally.”

The New York Stock Exchange is home to Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri A.S. (NYSE: TKC), a provider of mobile services with a total global market capitalization of more than $15.5 billion. The company is Turkey’s leading operator and Europe’s third biggest provider of GSM services.

The NYSE is home to 425 non-U.S. companies from 45 countries. These global and regional leaders have a combined total global market capitalization of over $10 trillion.
