NYSE Group Names Rachel F. Robbins General Counsel And Executive Vice President

NYSE Group, Inc. (NYSE: NYX) today named Rachel F. Robbins General Counsel and Executive Vice President, effective Nov. 20, 2006.   Ms. Robbins, who has more than 30 years of financial services and corporate legal and compliance experience, will be responsible for all NYSE Group legal activities, including the office of Corporate Secretary, Internal Audit, and Regulatory  Quality Review but excluding NYSE Regulation.  She will be a member of NYSE Group Management Committee and report to John A. Thain, Chief Executive Officer.

Ms. Robbins spent most of her legal career at J.P. Morgan & Co., where she concluded her 20-years of service as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary from 1996 – 2001.  Most recently, Ms. Robbins served as Strategic Advisor to Axiom Legal Solutions and as a consultant to Citigroup, Inc. on international issues.  From 2003-2004, she was General Counsel of Citigroup International.  Ms. Robbins was a Founding Partner of Blaqwell, Inc., a New York-based international management consulting firm focused on the legal industry, and from 1976-1980, she was an Associate at Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy, New York.

An active industry professional, Ms. Robbins from 1997-2000 served as chairman of the Board and President of American Bankers Association Securities Association (ABASA), where she was instrumental in developing industry consensus on strategic legislative and regulatory issues.  She has served on the U.S. Treasury Advisory Committee on Financial Services (1996), Legal Advisory Committee of the New York Stock Exchange (1992-1995), Federal Regulation Committee of Securities Industry Association (1987-2001), and Executive Committee of the Securities Regulation Institute (1994-2001). 

In 1997 and 2000, Ms. Robbins was named to the National Law Journal’s list of 100 Most Influential Lawyers, and received the YWCA Women of Achievement in 2003.   Ms. Robbins is Chair, New York Regional Board of the Anti-Defamation League and was the organization’s Human Relations Award Honoree in 1998.  She is a Member of the Board of Trustees of New York University School of Law, a Member of the Board of Ishmael and Isaac, an Advisory Board Member of Axiom Legal Solutions, and an Advisory Board Member of Legal Momentum.

In 1976, Ms. Robbins earned a J.D, Order of the Coif, from New York University.   She holds a B.A. in French Literature from Wellesley College , where she graduated in 1972 as a Durant Scholar.
