On 23 May NYSE Euronext released financial results for the three months ended 31 March, 2007, on a pro forma combined basis as if the merger between NYSE Group and Euronext had been consummated on 1 January 2007. Revenues on this basis would have been USD $1.2 billion, operating income would have been USD $264 million and net income would have been $161 million.
Based on the 31 March, 2007 pro forma combined revenues of NYSE Euronext (excluding activity assessment fees, liquidity payments, and routing and clearing fees), revenues from NYSE Euronext’s primary business activities are as a percentage of total net revenues:

As at the end of May more than 121 million cash transactions were registered on Euronext since the start of the year – up 26.1% on the same period in 2006.This represents an average daily volume of 1.2 million transactions. - May - Second busiest month ever
During May Euronext’s cash markets registered 25.5 million transactions, up 15.4% on the same month last year.
US Cash
- NYSE Group exchanges reported 2.7 billion shares handled per day in May, up 9.1% year-todate. NYSE Group’s operations in NYSE-listed securities reported 2.1 billion shares handled per day, up 4% from the same month last year and 12.2% year-to-date.
European Derivatives
- Euronext.liffe traded 79 million futures and options contracts during May 2007 and more than 362 million year to date – up 13.7% from the same period last year.
- Euronext.liffe’s commodity products traded more than one million contracts in May, up 42.6% on the same month in May 2006.
- Bclear record Bclear processed a record 15.9 million contracts during May, up 19.6% from the same month in 2006 and up 76.3% year-to-date.
US Derivatives
- NYSE Arca reported 1.1 million equity option contracts executed per day in May 2007, up 43% from the same month last year.
Listings
NYSE Euronext
There were 32 new listings (IPOs, closed-end funds and transfers) and 11 ETF listings on NYSE Euronext’s markets in May 2007.
Record IPO Levels on Euronext’s Markets
In May this year 12 IPOs took place on Euronext’s markets.This strong activity follows a record number of listings during the first quarter of 2007.As at the end of May the total number of listings on Euronext’s markets in 2007 reached a record of 52 compared to 42 during the same period in 2006.The 52 listings have raised €2 billion in capital.
Largest Listings on Alternext Since Launch
During the first week of June Alternext, Euronext’s market dedicated to small to medium-sized companies, welcomed two new companies,Vergnet and Homair, whose successful listings raised the largest amounts for any listing since the market’s launch in May 2005.Vergnet, which is involved in producing equipment for wind power generation and drinking water supply, raised €33.95 million. Homair, the French leader for mobile-home holiday rentals, raised €32.31 million. Since the start of 2007,Alternext has welcomed 22 new listings to raise a total of €274 million.Alternext counts 96 companies from all sectors of the economy, with total market capitalisation amounting to €5 billion.
Bclear Breaks Through 100 million
On 25 May, the total volume in equity derivatives futures and options registered through Euronext.liffe’s Bclear wholesale service passed the 100 million milestone.
Already this year Bclear has registered 50 million contracts and has eclipsed the total registered for 2006.These figures reflect the broad uptake from the hedge fund community and member firms, which have played a major role in driving Bclear’s success. German and Swiss futures feature particularly strongly on Bclear trading with more than 8 million and 7 million contracts traded year to date respectively, as at the end of May 2007.
JP Morgan’s David Sagnier said,“Bclear provides effective solutions to the operational challenges that our clients face when processing equity derivatives trades.This administration and clearing system preserves the flexibility of OTC products in a standard exchange environment, combining the best of the OTC and exchange traded worlds.”
Since launching in October 2005, more than 70 member firms have used Bclear to register wholesale equity derivatives transactions.These have included index futures and options in addition to single stock options and Universal Stock Futures (USFs) on securities from 16 different countries and the United States.
NextTrack ETFs Top The 200 Mark
On 12 June Lyxor Asset Management launched four new Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) on Euronext Paris.This raises the number of ETFs listed on NextTrack to over 200, with nearly 150 indices represented as underlying indices. NextTrack is Euronext’s market segment dedicated to ETFs.
The new ETFs relate to emerging markets, Latin America, South Africa and DJ Euro Stoxx 50.These new products confirm Euronext’s position as a pace-setter for ETFs, offering a diversified, innovative range of products from the leading European and international issuers. NextTrack now counts 201 listed funds, four times the number just two years ago, with total assets of more than €60 billion, placing it first in the sector in Europe.
