NYSE Appoints James F. Duffy As Senior Vice President And Associate General Counsel

The New York Stock Exchange board of directors approved the appointment of James F. Duffy as senior vice president and associate general counsel. Mr. Duffy, 50, will continue his work with the International and Competitive Position Groups, advising on eligibility, compliance and other interpretive initiatives currently under development, particularly in the area of market structure. Mr. Duffy joined the NYSE in May 1999 as a legal advisor. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Duffy served as executive vice president and general counsel, Legal and Regulatory Policy, at the American Stock Exchange from 1994 until early 1999. Prior to this role, he served as the senior vice president and general counsel of the Amex from 1989 to 1994. Before joining the Amex, Duffy served as assistant general counsel, Corporate Law and Finance for GTE Corp. and prior to this role, he was an associate at the law firm of Lord, Day & Lord for nine years. Mr. Duffy holds Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University and a Juris Doctorate from New York University School of Law.
