NYSE Appoints Gary M. Stein As Vice President, Business Development

The New York Stock Exchange has appointed Gary M. Stein as vice president, Business Development, effective immediately. Mr. Stein, 37, will report to Amy S. Butte, chief financial officer and executive vice president.

As vice president, Business Development, Mr. Stein is charged with supporting the development of transparency, process and control, and profitability objectives for the Finance department and the Exchange. In this newly created role, Mr. Stein will be responsible for business analysis pertaining to the corporate finance objectives of the Exchange, and reviewing the NYSE’s equity interests and other potential growth opportunities. He will also assume the lead Finance role in the cross-Exchange Revenue Analysis team, which is comprised of managers across the Exchange’s primary revenue lines.

“Gary’s depth of experience, including an understanding of alternative marketplaces, new technologies, and the investment process will be a tremendous benefit to our constituents both inside and outside the Exchange. In this new role, he will help the finance organization meet our goal to become the financial engine behind the premier financial market,” said Ms. Butte.

Mr. Stein was most recently an executive director and head of Fixed Income Indices at Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI). From 2001 to 2004, he was head of Strategy & Business Development for MSCI. Prior to MSCI, Mr. Stein was a managing director at efinanceworks, LLC. Other experience includes Morgan Stanley Venture Partners and Patricof & Co. Ventures.

Mr. Stein received a B.S. in Economics with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and he received an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
