NYMEX Sets Daily Volume Record For Metals Futures Contracts

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., a subsidiary of NYMEX Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: NMX), announced that it set daily volume records yesterday for its gold contract on the CME Globex ® electronic trading platform, overall gold futures, and total metals futures for COMEX.

Total metals futures contracts for COMEX reached 362,576, surpassing the 350,921 contracts traded on November 26.

Overall gold futures totaled 283,778, exceeding the 262,549 contracts traded November 26.

Gold futures on Globex reached a record 244,144 contracts, surpassing the 210,413 contracts traded on November 7.

NYMEX launched its physically settled futures contracts for trading on CME Globex during regular open outcry trading hours on September 5, 2006, following its initial offering of financially settled, standard-sized and NYMEX miNY energy futures contracts for trading on CME Globex on June 12, 2006. On December 4, 2006, NYMEX introduced full-sized and COMEX miNY metals futures contracts for side by side trading. Options trading launched on CME Globex on June 25.
