The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., a subsidiary of NYMEX Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: NMX), announced that it set daily volume records yesterday on the CME Globex electronic trading platform, including more than 1 million total contracts traded.
Total contracts traded on CME Globex reached 1,039,413 surpassing the 993,324 on July 26.
Natural gas futures totaled 150,031 exceeding the 137,562 contracts traded on January 31.
Copper futures totaled 21,175 beating the 19,038 contracts traded on August 8.
NYMEX launched its physically settled futures contracts for trading on CME Globex during regular open outcry trading hours on September 5, 2006, following its initial offering of financially settled, standard-sized and NYMEX miNY energy futures contracts for trading on CME Globex on June 12, 2006. On December 4, 2006, NYMEX introduced full-sized and COMEX miNY metals futures contracts for side by side trading. Options trading was launched on CME Globex on June 25.
