The U.S. blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 8.52% in November, closing at 12743.44. Stock market indexes in Europe, Asia and globally were down in November, according to preliminary monthly figures from global index providers, Dow Jones Indexes and STOXX Ltd.

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 8.52% in November, closing at 12743.44. Year-to-date, the index is up 2.25%. (Index calculated in US dollars).
  • Measuring Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX 50 Index is down 7.38% for November, closing at 3598.26. Year-to-date, the index is down 2.68%. (Index calculated in Euros)
  • Measuring Eastern Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index is down 10.60% for November, closing at 353.91. Year-to-date, the index is up 13.03%. (Index calculated in Euros)
    The performance of the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged 15 blue-chip index is down 9.56% for November, closing at 3619.41. Year-to-date, the index is up 13.72%. (Index calculated in Euros)

NOVEMBER 2007 Sector Winners and Losers

  • In the U.S., the Dow Jones Utilities sector index posted the narrowest loss in November, falling 2.87%. The Dow Jones Financials sector index posted the biggest loss, dropping 15.69%.
  • In Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Utilities sector index posted the narrowest loss, falling 0.78%. The Dow Jones STOXX 600 Automobiles & Parts sector index posted the biggest loss, dropping 16.32%.
  • In Asia, the Dow Jones Utilities sector index posted the biggest gain, climbing 3.70%. The Dow Jones Industrials sector index posted the biggest loss, dropping 11.18%.
  • Globally, the Dow Jones Utilities sector index posted the biggest gain, climbing 0.94% in the Dow Jones Sector Titans Indexes. The Dow Jones Financial Services sector index posted the biggest loss, dropping 16.33%.

Dow Jones-AIG Commodity Index
