The contract, which is currently listed through December 2005, will be extended through December 2006.
Exchange President J. Robert Collins, Jr., said, "The desire of the marketplace for a financially secure method of managing electricity price risk is seen in the growing activity in this contract, which was launched on April 11. Open interest of nearly 9,500 contracts shows that market participants increasingly view the PJM monthly electricity futures contract as an important part of their trading portfolios."
