LATIBEX, BME's market in Euros for Latin American companies, and FTSE International, have granted a new licence to BBVA Gestión for issuing Excghange Traded Funds (ETFs). The bank will issue ETFs on the FTSE Latibex Top on the Spanish stock exchange and on the Latin American stock markets.
This product will allow investors to have exposure to Latin American equities, supported by the high correlation between the FTSE Latibex Top index and the major Latin American euro-denominated indices. The product will bring together the advantages of ETFs and the opportunity of investing on the main Latin American markets, in Euros, through Latibex.
The Spanish market's ETF segment was created on 20 July 2006 and up to now comprises 4 ETFs, 3 on the IBEX 35 and 1 on the EUROSTOXX 50.
BME looks forward to consolidating its range of ETFs with the future listing of funds on other equity and fixed income indices as well as ETFs which are already listed on other stock markets. In the near future tender offers will be accepted for the issuance of ETFs on the IBEX Medium Cap and IBEX Small Cap.
