New Chairman For Baltic Dry Freight Market Information Users’ Group

Date 07/01/2005

Guy Campbell, director of ocean freight for US energy giant Koch Carbon, has been appointed as the new dry market chairman of the Baltic Exchange’s Dry Freight Market Information Users’ Group.

The group enables shipowners, charterers and freight derivative traders to have an input into the Baltic Exchange’s wide range of shipping market information.

Commenting on his appointment Guy Campbell said:

“The Baltic Exchange plays a unique role in providing independent accurate assessments for the shipping market. In order to continue doing this successfully the Baltic relies on the participation of the end-users of its freight indices and assessments. I would encourage any shipowner, charterer or FFA trader that relies on Baltic information for its day to day business to join the group.”

Campbell takes over from the start of the year from Linda Kongerslev of Oldendorff Carriers, who retires by rotation.

Jeremy Penn, Baltic Exchange Chief Executive said:

“We are greatly looking forward to working with Guy Campbell and are most grateful to Linda Kongerslev and to Oldendorff Carriers for her time and contribution over the last year. We and the industry as a whole fully understand and appreciate the commitment required to make a positive impact in this role and are especially pleased to have had such excellent participation from continental Europe for the last year.”

Membership of the group is open to any principal that is a member of the Baltic Exchange and active in the physical or derivative markets.

The group meets on a regular basis around the world and between meetings issues can be discussed among members by email.
