NASDAQ OMX Nordic And Baltic Markets: Trading Statistics December 2013

NASDAQ OMX today publishes monthly trade statistics for the Nordic1 and Baltic2 markets. Below follows a summary of the statistics for December 2013:

  • The share trading increased by 20.0 % to a daily average of 2.222bn EUR, compared to 1.852bn EUR in December 2012. Compared to the previous month, November 2013, the daily average increased by 5,2 %.
  • Derivatives trading decreased by 16.3 % to a daily average of 488,479 contracts, compared with 583,819 contracts in December 2012.
  • ETF trading3 (Exchange Traded Funds) increased by 44.1 % to a daily average of 63.0m EUR compared to 43.7m EUR in December 2012.
  • Nokia Oyj was the most traded stock during the past month, followed by Volvo AB.
  • Merrill Lynch was the most active member during the past month, followed by Deutsche Bank.
  • NASDAQ OMX Nordic’s share of order-book trading in our listed stocks4 increased to 67.5%, compared to 65.6% previous month.     
  • NASDAQ OMX Nordic’s share of order-book trading in Norwegian listed shares5 decreased to 6.4 % compared to 9.9 % the previous month.
  • The average order book depth on the best price level was larger at NASDAQ OMX Nordic  than the second most liquid trading venue, see detailed figures per exchange:

              * For OMXC20 companies 2.9 larger
              * For OMXH25 companies 2.5 larger
              * For OMXS30 companies 2.1 larger

NASDAQ OMX Nordic’s average time at EBBO6 (European Best Bid and Offer) was:

               * For OMXC20 companies 91.2 %
               * For OMXH25 companies 83.2 %
               * For OMXS30 companies 93.0 %
