NASDAQ OMX Commemorates Six Months Of Ownership Of The NASDAQ Dividend Achievers Indexes - Nearly Thirty-Five Percent Growth In Assets Benchmarked To The Indexes Highlights Demand For Income-Generating Investment Products

Date 02/07/2013

The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) today commemorates the six-month anniversary of the ownership of the NASDAQ Dividend and Income Index Family, which has seen assets under management (AUM) on products linked to the Family increase 34.7 percent, to $19.0 billion from $14.1 billion, since it was acquired from Mergent, Inc. in December 2012 and subsequently expanded with two additional indexes. Assets benchmarked to the NASDAQ Dividend and Income Index Family reached an all-time high of $19.4 billion on June 18, 2013 since NASDAQ OMX purchased the suite of indexes in December 2012.

With the acquisition of the Dividend Achievers, NASDAQ OMX Global Indexes has catapulted into one of the largest providers of dividend indexes in the world, based on benchmarked assets.

The NASDAQ Dividend and Income Index Family tracks income-generating securities with components such as dividends, buybacks, covered call strategies, preferred stocks and other diversified income approaches. The Dividend Achievers, a leading brand of indexes that benchmark companies with strong long-term dividend growth, were acquired from Mergent, Inc. in December 2012.

According to a recent report from independent global investment manager BlackRock Inc., dividend income equity products have seen flows of more than $10 billion year-to-date.

"The Dividend Achiever and other Dividend and Income family indexes help investors track companies and trading strategies positioned to produce yield in this continued low-rate environment," said Dave Gedeon, Managing Director at NASDAQ OMX Global Indexes. "NASDAQ is continually working to improve its dividend and income family of indexes to aid the investment community in benchmarking this increasingly important space."

The indexes in the NASDAQ Dividend and Income Index Family have all been created or revised with rules-based methodologies for transparent and objective calculation.
