NASDAQ Announces Mid-Month Open Short Interest Positions In NASDAQ Stocks As Of Settlement Date January 14, 2011

At the end of the settlement date of January 14, 2011, short interest in 2,355 NASDAQ Global MarketSM securities totaled 6,183,698,526 shares compared with 6,135,284,764 shares in 2,359 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of December 31, 2010. The mid-January short interest represents 4.21 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.52 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 491 securities on The NASDAQ Capital MarketSM totaled 328,394,400 shares at the end of the settlement date of January 14, 2011 compared with 333,171,668 shares in 495 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 3.14 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period's figure of 3.65.
