At the end of the settlement date of July 31, 2013, short interest in 2,129 NASDAQ Global MarketSM securities totaled 6,947,861,179 shares compared with 7,118,249,964 shares in 2,129 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of July 15, 2013. The end-of-July short interest represents 4.45 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.25 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 534 securities on The NASDAQ Capital MarketSM totaled 447,541,870 shares at the end of the settlement date of July 31, 2013 compared with 446,447,883 shares in 530 securities for the previous reporting period.
