The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,141.43 down 143.27 points (-6.69%) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,595.47 up 04.56 points (0.29%); MCX Energy Index closed at 2,437.91 down 168.30 points (-6.90%) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,390.90 down 266.08 points (-11.13%).
The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs. 52, 047 crore for the period September 7 to September 14, 2006.
In the bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 25327.38 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 14,257.94 crore. The outstanding open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 19,824 kgs and the total volume recorded was 279,992 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 7848,950 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 415,950 kgs.
In the metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 3998.81 crore with open interest of 6998 tons and recorded total volume of 113,166 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 711.06 crore, with open interest of 3275 tons and recorded 45,030 tons as total volume.
In the energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 2794.38 crore with open interest of 858,100 barrels and recorded total volume of 91,21,800 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 1,397 crore, with open interest of 6970,000 mmbtu and recorded 48305,500 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1707.68 crore, with open interest of 2409 tons and total volume recorded was 25302 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 27,800 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 637.15 crore and total volume recorded was 149,950 tons.
- All MCX Potato contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 255.05 crore, with open interest of 67530 tons and total volume recorded was 364,620 tons.
