The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,096.01 down 76.78 points during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,598.04 up 28.93 points; MCX Energy Index closed at 2,296.57 down 135.62 points and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,393.43 down 123.64 points.
The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs. 35,930 crore for the period September 29 to October 5, 2006.
In the bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 16,538.47 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 8089.66 crore. The outstanding open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 18,807 kgs and the total volume recorded was 186,465.3 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 4,584,510 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 466,940 kgs.
In the metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 4371.15 crore with open interest of 10917 tons and recorded total volume of 127,954 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 346.80 crore, with open interest of 3520 tons and recorded 22,335 tons as total volume.
In the energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 3456.68 crore with open interest of 1,053,400 barrels and recorded total volume of 12,376,100 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 740.25 crore, with open interest of 1,990,000 mmbtu and recorded 25,908,000 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1191.22 crore, with open interest of 2646 tons and total volume recorded was 16,360 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 31,890 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 536.03 crore and total volume recorded was 127,540 tons.
- All MCX Potato contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 114.58 crore, with open interest of 32,190 tons and total volume recorded was 156,240 tons.
