The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,172.79 up 67.04 points (3.09%) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,569.11 up 101.58 points (4.01%); MCX Energy Index closed at 2,432.19 up 125.82 points (5.17%) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,517.07 down 26.28 points (-1.67%).
The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs. 44,509 crore for the period September 22 to September 28, 2006.
In the bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 19,799.82 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 10,294.64 crore. The outstanding open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 20,861.3 kgs and the total volume recorded was 221,539 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 5,720,700 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 411,790 kgs.
In the metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 4565.76 crore with open interest of 9372 tons and recorded total volume of 129,719 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 457.43 crore, with open interest of 3775 tons and recorded 29,035 tons as total volume.
In the energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 4168.66 crore with open interest of 761,300 barrels and recorded total volume of 14,618,000 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 1,018 crore, with open interest of 3,128,000 mmbtu and recorded 37,946,500 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 2198.07 crore, with open interest of 2769.12 tons and total volume recorded was 30,367 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 31,240 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 844.78 crore and total volume recorded was 200,560 tons.
- All MCX Potato contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 192.50 crore, with open interest of 39,150 tons and total volume recorded was 256,920 tons.
