The MCX COMDEX closed at 2338.56 up 26.18 points (1.12%) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1645.25 up 5.66 points (0.34%); MCX Energy Index closed at 2763.89 up 23.69 points (0.86%) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2606.54 up 49.81 points (1.89%).
The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs.40, 841.48 crore for the period August 18, 2006 to August 24, 2006, down by nearly 19 per cent over previous week.
In the bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 17705.57 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 11,587.63 crore. The outstanding open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 15,125 kgs and the total volume recorded was 1, 85,736 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 60, 85,410 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 232.26 tons.
In the metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 5148.67 crore with open interest of 9,038 tons and recorded total volume of 144,747 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 335.93 crore, with open interest of 3615 tons and recorded 21,535 tons as total volume.
In the energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1636.50 crore with open interest of 6,12,100 barrels and recorded total volume of 48,31,000 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 2,102.55 crore, with open interest of 46,25,500 mmbtu and recorded 60,40,7000 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover:- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 377.89 crore, with open interest of 2,025 tons and total volume recorded was 6600 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 29,120 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 996.31 crore and total volume recorded was 2,27,660 tons.
- All MCX Potato contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 431.46 crore, with open interest of 101,250 tons and total volume recorded was 715,920 tons.
