Morgan Stanley Retains Global Equity Top Spot With A Market Share Of 10.6%, According To Bloomberg League Table

Bloomberg has this morning made available its final Q1 2019 league table reports. The tables represent market leaders across a broad range of deal types, including M&A, Equities, loans and bonds transactions over the last quarter. 

Equities - Global

  • Q1 2019 credited Global Equity, Equity Linked & Rights volume and deal count saw a 38.98% and 35.84% decrease respectively, year-on-year. China CITIC Bank Corp's CNY 40 billion equity linked offering was the top in this category ($6 billion dollars), followed by Huaxia Bank Co Ltd's CNY 2.56 billion follow-on offering.
  • Morgan Stanley ranked as the top Global Equity, Equity Linked & Rights underwriter for Q1 2019 (10.6% market share), holding this position since Q3 of last year.  Goldman Sachs and Bank of America Merrill Lynch ranked second and third to follow. 

Equities – EMEA

  • Q1 2019 credited EMEA Equity, Equity Linked & Rights - Risk volume decreased 51.41% to USD 23.4 Bln while deal count decreased 54.59% to 104 offerings year-on-year. EMEA Equity IPO volume decreased 97.32% year-on-year to USD 395.8 million while the deal count decreased 74.47% to 12.
  • Morgan Stanley ranked as the top EMEA Equity, Equity Linked & Rights - Risk underwriter for Q1 2019 with 16.70% market share. The bank underwrote 15 deals over the period. Citi and Goldman Sachsranked second and third with 10.21% and 8.57% market share, respectively.
