Monthly Trading Statements For BME Markets - The Trading Volume On The Spanish Stock Exchange In April Reaches €57.6 Billion, Up 11% From The Previous Month

  • ETF trading in the first four months was up 44% from the same period last year 
  • In April, trading in Options on Stocks came in at 315,658 contracts, up 9.4% from the same month in 2012 
  • Corporate Debt trading reached €138.6 billion in April, up 74% from the same period last year

Equities

Equity trading volume on the Spanish stock exchange in April was €57.6 billion, up 11% from March 2013. The trading volume in the first four months of the year totalled €219.8 billion, down 9.4% from a year earlier.  

In April the number of trades was 3.9 million, 17% higher than in March 2013.
The number of trades in the first four months totalled 14 million, down 11.5% from the same period a year earlier.

The trading volume in ETF to the end of April totalled €911 million, up 51% year on year. In April ETF trading volume was €137 million.

The number of trades in ETF in the first four months totalled 20,313, up 44% on the same period last year. In April the number of ETF trades came in at 4,956. 

Futures and Options

The trading volume in April on BME's Derivatives market was 2,87 million contracts, down 33,6% year on year.

Trading in Options on Indices in April reached 315,658 contracts, up 9.4% from April 2012 while trading in Futures on Indices for the same period came in at 681,807 contracts, the highest figure on record so far this year.

Warrants and Certificates

The number of Warrants and Certificates issues admitted to trading so far this year is 3,551.

The trading volume in Warrants and Certificates to the end of April totalled €270 million, down 10.5% from the same period a year earlier. In April, the trading volume in this segment reached 63 million, up 20% from the same period in 2012.

The number of trades in this market in the first four months totalled 65,474, down 14.3% from a year earlier.  In April, the number of trades was 10% lower than a year earlier, at 14,763.

Fixed Income

The trading volume in the Corporate Debt market of BME in April was €138.6 billion, up 74% from the same period a year earlier.

New issues reached €7.7 billion in April, down 59.6% from the same month in 2012.

The outstanding balance on this market in April was €833.8 billion, down 6.7% from a year earlier.

The trading volume in Public Debt in April on BME's electronic trading plataform was €4.5 billion, up 14% from the same period in 2012.
